There are so many updates to share here, scenes from a week that couldn’t possibly follow laws of space and time. We will include a bunch of real detail here tomorrow, but in brief now: Button, small and so fierce, is holding strong, CPAP in place but arms wild. Her status continues to be of incremental improvements – all we could wish. Bear’s road has been much rougher. One reason it’s been difficult to update this space is because her condition has teetered so significantly, concern and white-knuckled hope a constant. We take one step forward and a sudden stumble back. As of this evening, she (and Button) are resting well, brave birds under bright lights.
And today they turned one week old! That felt big, so we bought a cake. Below is a picture of Lucy making a wish and blowing out the candles on her sisters’ behalf. She won’t tell us what the wish is: “It won’t come true then, and it really, really needs to come true.” We understand, Lu.
